How to Delete WhatsApp Chats Partially Like Only Photos, Videos or Other Data

We cannot keep everything in WhatsApp for so long, sometimes due to less importance of the chat and most of the time to save memory space.

If you wonder what is the big deal in deleting chat data of contact from WhatsApp, thinking just by holding the chat item and tap on delete itself would do so (or) by going to Contacts chat - >click on Top Right Corner -> Tap More option ->Clear Chat would also delete the entire chat conversation. But in either way, the chat item will be deleted one by one or as a whole.

 How to Delete Chat-Based WhatsApp Data Partially from Conversation?
WhatsApp chats conversation data can be deleted in multiple ways but no other way has provided a feature to delete or retain chat conversation-based on the chat data type such as photos, videos, voice notes, audio files, etc.

Here in this article, we've detailed one simple way to delete conversation data of the contacts separately based on the type of chat medium/type, Just follow the below simple steps.
  • Step 1: Open WhatsApp and Go to settings ->Data and Storage Usage ->Storage usage
  • Step 2: Under Storage usage, you can see the list of chats conversation sorted by default, based on the highest storage space used.
  • Step3: From the list of contacts chat, tap on any chat item which briefs the used storage data based on chat data type such as Text, Photos, Stickers, Videos, Documents, etc.

  • Step 4: At the bottom right corner Tap on FREE UP SPACE and check only the chat type to be deleted and uncheck other chat types to ignore from deletion. For example: If you want to delete only photos then check only the photos check box and keep the remaining checkbox un-checked from the list.
    • Note: By default, all the checkbox except location and documents are checked, Uncheck any other checkbox chat data type whichever required to keep the data.
  • Step 5: Once the chat type to be removed from WhatsApp is selected then tap on "Delete Items" then a new window prompts to confirm the action, now click on "Clear Messages".

  • Step 6: And you're done, the storage space is extended, so the removed data will no longer occupy the storage space in your mobile.
