How to Register and Activate SBI Internet Banking Online

Internet Banking is the most trusted and efficient way of making transactions, bill payments, view accounts, view statements, deposits and many more facilities that can be accessed from any corner of the world for free.

To avail these facilities in SBI (or) any State Bank Groups new customer's will be given the PPK kit along with the passbook at the time of creating accounts in the bank itself if the internet banking facility request was mentioned in the Account opening form, but for existing customer's they have to register separately to get access to the internet banking either by visiting a branch or without visiting a branch.

If the main motive of internet banking is to ease transactions and payments for clients in the leisure, without visiting a bank home branch in person, then why not to make the registration and activation process of internet banking also in the leisure from their homes ?.

Note: SBI official website is an EV-SSL certified website by VeriSign, that adds an extra layer of security to your online account, so the information sent from the client computer is encrypted and unreadable and will not be shared with anyone to maintain privacy and confidentiality of the individual's account.

How to Register SBI Internet Banking WithOut Visiting Branch?
Registering for SBI online banking can be done in 2 ways, either by directly visiting the home branch and get your PPK kit in person (or) by registering through a web portal. To register for SBI online banking without visiting the home branch follow the steps below.

1. Visit SBI official website login page by clicking here 
2. Click New User? Register here links highlighted in red color below the login credential text fields. Note: If you already have PPK(pre-printed kit) which contains the username and password from the branch, then skip this registration process and jump to activation steps.

3. Immediately a new window pop-up with the required account details of the user.
4. Enter the details such as Account no, CIF no, Branch code, Country, Mobile no, Access Limit, etc accordingly by referring your SBI account passbook.

5. Click submit, and then you'll receive an OTP message in your registered mobile number, Enter that OTP code into the website text box field and then click proceed.
6. On successful validation of OTP, the INB system will display two options;
1. (A) I have my ATM card (Online registration without branch visit)
2. (B) I do not have my ATM card (INB activation by branch)
7. Select “I have my ATM card (Online registration without branch visit” option and click proceed. * Note: If you choose (B) I do not have my ATM card, then the mailer containing the login password will reach the registered address in a secured envelope within a maximum of 10 days.
8. Immediately bank’s payment gateway screen will be opened, fill your debit card details such as card number, valid thru/Expiry Date, cardholder’s Name, PIN and the captcha then click on ‘submit’ button. 
9. On successful validation, the system will display the temporary username on the screen
10. And then It will prompt you to set a preferred login password for your SBI online account, enter the password and confirm password then click submit.
11. "Successfully registered for Internet Banking" message will be displayed on the screen
12. Now you'll also receive a temporary username and PPK no in your registered mobile number. Note: Temporary username should be used for the first time login and can be changed only once to our desired Username and Username are subject to availability. 
13. You are almost done, now jump into the activation process explained below

Important Note: Password and PPK numbers are completely different, thereby PPK number cannot be used as a login password. PPK numbers are used in the activation process only when you received the PPK kit from the bank branch in person (or) received through a mailer and it will not be used when registration is done using an online web portal and received PPK number as SMS in mobile.

Instant Registration for SBI Online Banking(Branch Visit *)

If you can reach your bank directly, you can register for SBI online banking instantly and activate it on the same day, by submitting the registration form to your home branch and collect the PPK(pre-printed kit) in person.

1. Visit the home branch and ask for internet banking form (or) download the registration form from SBI official website and take a print out.
2. Fill the form with details such as customer name, account number, email-ID, access right, DOB, customer signature, etc and handover it to the SBI bank official representative to process.
3.  Once the form is submitted and processed, you'll be provided with a Pre Printed Kit(PPK), which contains a username and password.
4. And you're done with SBI internet banking registration.

Important Note: Even though PPK kit containing username/password/PPK number is provided instantly at the home branch, it will take 24 hours(1 day) to work, so do login with the credentials provided in the PPK kit after 24 hours.

After registration, you have to activate the SBI internet banking with the login credentials and the PPK number that you received with the kit provided at Home Branch. We have explained the activation procedure in detail below.

Activation Procedure for SBI Internet Banking Online?
If you are done with the registration for SBI internet banking, the next step is to activate it to access your SBI account online to enjoy several benefits. Even though the activation steps are simple, we are here to facilitate the steps with appropriate screenshots and step by step explanation.

1. Log in with your temporary username and password that you created for the first time online(For users registered directly by visiting the branch, do log in with the login credentials provided in the PPK kit which you got from the branch that contains username and password)
2. After successful login set the preferred username for your account, then accept terms and conditions and click submit.

   Note: Username can be changed only once and should not exceed 20 characters in length, Usernames can contain alphabets, numbers (or) combination of both, and does not include any other special characters, symbols, etc.
3. To access SBI online banking, you need to create and maintain two passwords.
1. Login Password -  To access account details and do online payments etc
2. Profile Password - It is second level security by SBI internet banking, to update customer profile and to transfer funds to other banks and other branches, etc
4.  Now change your login password and confirm login password then click confirm

5. Then it will prompt to set a profile password, fill the required details such as password, mobile number, hint question, country, etc, then click submit.

   Note: In case you have forgotten profile password, Hint Question and answer will be used as a recovery method to reset your profile password, so remember the question and answer that you gave at the time of creating profile password (or) else write it in a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place.
6. And you're done, now you're good to do transactions and access SBI accounts line.
